Welcome back to my easel, friends:) I've got a lovely family portrait drawing for you today. This is actually an old friend of mine with his two super awesome kids so this portrait was a really special one to draw. Enjoy!
Pencil Portraits
First Pregnancy Portraits!
I've been doing more and more children's portraits recently, which I love 'cause kids are so sweet and adorable, and I realized I had yet to feature any not-yet-born little ones. Luckily two fabulous hula hoopers I've gotten know through social media are both beautifully, blissfully pregnant with their firsts, so I figured what better way to help them celebrate while also helping to round out my custom portrait website than to draw their pregnancy portraits?!
'Hope' (top) and 'Keeah' were drawn using my standard pencil variety and white conte on 9x12 inch grey toned paper. To see more about my process, have a look here.
If you know any mamas-to-be looking for a creative pregnancy portrait make sure to send them my way:)

Aidin Portrait Drawing
Hello fellow art lovers! Due to the positive feedback I received from the first one (thank you!!) I made another portrait demo vid for your viewing pleasure.
If you remember from a few weeks ago I was featured on a really great blog No Model Lady so this is that portrait. I really loved the drawing Michele sent for me to draw from and I just had a feeling 'Aidin' would turn out to be one of my best portraits yet!
As for all my pencil portrait drawings, I'm using a range of B pencils and a white conte. If you're curious about my specific materials check out this earlier post with all the details.
Hope you enjoy seeing Aidin's face come alive; I feel like it really starts to pop when watched along with this great copyright free music I found.

Three Ways to Sharpen Pencils
Welcome to another Tutorial Tuesday! Today I am discussing three different ways to sharpen art pencils. These techniques will work for your graphite, charcoal, conte, watercolor and colored pencils. I find that I like to use different methods for various mediums, and I discuss what works well for me in the vid.
Hope you learn a lil something... Are there any other good sharpening methods out there that fellow artists are using? Leave me a note in the comments!
